Care leavers want to be supported by care professionals who approach them in a respectful manner. The project also aims at compiling an Ampelographic book recording the main characters of local vine varieties as well as developing a set of guidelines for sustainable agricultural practices in Greek, Bulgarian, English and Braille.
Care leavers want flexibility, respect and recognition of their individualism, as well as tailor-made responses that meet their individual needs. This project builds on findings from the Prepare for Leaving Care project The CJJ SOS Project is an extension of these efforts, and will help CJJ members, allies, and the states achieve better outcomes for this youth population, their families, and their communities nationwide.
Through joint recommendations to relevant authorities, the project aims at the development of the conditions for the establishment of PDO accreditation for the local varieties.
Building on previous findings Supporting young people who have grown up in alternative care is essential so that these young people can lead independent lives. Local vine varieties, notwithstanding the fact that they demonstrate excellent adaptation to the microenvironment, are threatened by reduction or even disappearance as a result of the introduction of new varieties and contemporary wine production techniques.
